Le Grand Dague **** - Atur/Périgueux - Aquitaine Camping Le Grand Dague is one of Dordogne’s best. One part of this 22 hectare estate is reserved for serviced camping. The rest of this natural terrain is unreserved, so you can always be sure of a quiet spot. The focal point of this camp site is the superb swimming pool complete with water chute and separate toddlers’ pool. Adjoining this is the quaint old farmhouse built in Périgord style which now serves as a reception and restaurant. If your children don’t make any friends in the playground, crazy golf or playing field, they will certainly fall in love with the animals in the children’s farm. The surrounding area is just as beautiful, attractive Périgueux and Bergerac, the recreational lake near Vergt en St. Paul, and culture in the world renowned caves at Lascaux. Le Village Tropical Sen Yan **** - Mézos - Aquitaine With its numerous exotic flowers, bushes and palm trees, this camp site lives up to its name. Yet Le Village Tropical Sen Yan is actually in France! Just 14km from the Atlantic coast. In the tropical heart of this beautiful camp site are three swimming pools and a small toddlers' pool. Surrounding this is a stunning terrace with sun loungers, a restaurant and bar. One of the pools has a sliding roof, so you can still enjoy a leisurely swim out of season. A sauna, spa and solarium complete the comfort. The crazy golf (in a sort of lagoon), the mini club, games room, playground and sports field are all great for the children. It's just a 4km ride through the forests to the beautiful Atlantic coast. You can also get there by bike. On the coast you'll find friendly little restaurants so you won't need to head straight back after a day by the sea.You will feel 'at home' in the camp site's safe fenced off swimming pool with a splash pool for the smallest children, a sun terrace and sun beds. There is a simple restaurant with a terrace and views over the jeu de boules lane. And children will find plenty of friends in the playground and near the table tennis. Les Bö-Bains **** - Badefols-sur-Dordogne - Aquitaine Les Bö-Bains camp site has found the perfect location. Right on the sun-drenched banks of the Dordogne and between the tourist favourites of Bergerac and Sarlat!. A friendly, clean and natural family camp site with excellent facilities, and not really that big. The swimming pool is well appointed with a separate shallow section for little swimmers, and with water slides. Surrounding this is a large terrace with loungers for those who like the sun and parasols for those who do not. Plenty of space for children to play, and they will always make friends by the trampoline in the playground. Canoe trips on the river are organised from the camp site, and trips by quad bike in the surrounding area are highly recommended. Don’t miss out a day on the wonderful beaches, the town of Belvès, Castelnaud castle and the world famous caves at Lascaux. There’s so much to do and see on the camp site, and far beyond! Juantcho *** - Urrugne - Aquitaine Camping Juantcho, it sounds really Spanish! Well you're only 13km from the Franco-Spanish border. The camp site sits on a spectacular rocky coast, and the bay, beaches and 17th century fort of the famous St.Jean de Luz are just around the corner. A footpath from the camp site takes you the 800 metres or so to the nearest beach and the yacht harbour with water sport facilities and friendly restaurants. The site is terraced and has plenty of natural greenery. There are no busy programmes or activities, but there will certainly be a warm welcome and relaxation. Fashionable Biarritz (20km) is much busier, but well worth the effort! Further inland there are prehistoric caves and a museum and zoo at Sare, and there is white water rafting and canoeing near Bidarray. So you can combine lazy days with active trips out! Land'Island **** - Moliets-et-Maa - Aquitaine Land’Island family camp site is situated in the middle of a large pine forest. Like an island encircled by nature and far away from built-up areas. The short walk (about 3.5km) through the scented woods to the beach is in itself worth the effort. We suggest a bike. And what a beach! Lovely and wide, behind attractive dunes, and there is plenty of room for everyone on the soft sands. For fresh water try the lakes at Léon or Soustons, which also have sandy beaches and where surfboards and sailing boats can be rented. And we almost forgot to mention the camp site’s own swimming pool, with sunbeds and a shallow section for little children. The miniclub with Mumphrey, its mascot, is quite unique and organises activities for all ages. Basque and Spanish influences are clearly visible, especially during paella evenings.
