10 minutes away is the town of Auxi le Chateau with its interesting history and market on Saturday. It has a 16th century church and museum.
13 minutes away is Hesdin, boasting a traditional market on Thursday mornings, with many shops and a very good supermarket. Hesdin is very pretty and has a wonderful 16th century church which is usually open in the mornings. The River Canche flows through the town and there are many small bridges and streets around the town centre. The town hall was the home of Charles V's (the holy roman emperor) sister, and has a magnificent bay window. with huge spire and belfry. This overlooks a large picturesque square surrounded by cafés and shops.
Montreuil sur Mer is well worth a visit, located on top of a hill with old cobbled streets. The main feature is the Citadel and ramparts. The old wall, with a rampart walk surrounds the town, and takes about half an hour to complete with views that are magnificent. It is approximately half an hour from the house.
There are several golf courses nearby.
For children there are various theme parks (Bagatelle, Parc de Dennebroeque, Naours) - two and a half hours to EuroDisney, 2 hours to Asterix Parc.
Chateaux, Abbeys, Markets Towns, plenty of museums to visit, and the Aquaclub and Aqualud nearby (big swimming complexes, water chutes, tropical wavepools) plus water sports/sail boarding.
The WW1 battlefields are about an hour away at Beaumont Hamel.
The beaches of the Cote d'Opal are about half an hours drive away. Le Crotoy 35 minutes, Quend Plage and Fort Mahon 40 minutes. The beaches are long wide and clean with golden sand.
There are three golf courses in the vicinity for keen golfers, Nampont, Abbeville and Belle Dunes. Many places offer horse riding, Marcanterra down at the coast, Ferme De Moines in the Forest of Crecy.
The house can be a base for birdwatchers, golfers, anglers, bikers and walkers. There is trout fishing nearby in Caumartin, carp live in the lagoons of the Somme and Narvik near Quend Plage, and there is Sea Fishing at Etaples. The Parc de Marquenterre is a world renowned bird reserve.
