Maison Stanley is in Conchy sur Canche, a small village, located in the Artois Valley, at the foot of the Pas De Calais where it meets the Somme.

The Fermette, a small detached farmhouse, is over 200 years old. It is close to the Market towns of Hesdin,
St. Pol sur Ternoise and Frevent. Le Touquet and Montreuil are 40 minutes drive away. Arras is 40 and Lille 60 minutes.

Available all year round for weekend breaks, short or long stays.

Both the house and garden are friendly for children and pets.

ATTRACTIONS IN THE AREA

Beaches
Long, clean and sandy beaches at Le Touquet, Berck and Fort Mahon are ideal for families or couples. Aqualud waterpark is at Le Touquet and Bagatelle waterpark and rides is near to Berck. Pebble beaches at St Valery sur Somme and Cayeux Sur Mer are about I hours drive away.

There are a number of golf courses towards the coast of which Le Touquet and Hardelot are the most well known. Fresh water anglers can practise their skills in the Somme countryside. The Somme is also well known to bird-lovers as the chosen stop off point for hundreds of species of birds.

Relaxation
Alternatively with its rural setting it is ideal for walking, cycling, and fishing, canoeing or just taking time out from the world. It is warmly decorated, comfortably furnished, well equipped and has central heating, which makes it ideal for winter breaks. There is also a log or coal burning traditional Godin stove for those romantic evenings by the fire.

Battles
Maison Stanley is ideally situated as a base for touring the historical sites of the famous battles fought in the area, especially Agincourt and the battlefields of the Somme. It is also central for visiting World Wars 1 and 2 sites, cemeteries and museums such as at Peronne and at Albert. Vimy Ridge once seen is never forgotten.

Culture
Arras is 40 and Lille 60 minutes drive away and offer architecture, museums, markets and art galleries. The finest example of Gothic architecture in France is the cathedral at St. Riquier, 20 minutes drive away. The walled town of Montreuil Sur Mer is 30 minutes away. Amiens offers a Gothic Cathedral, restored medieval riverbank quarter 'Les Hortillonnages' - floating gardens and a thriving Saturday Market

Race Track
The track at Croix en Ternoise is 10 minutes away for those who which to watch or participate.

 

 
 

THE ACCOMMODATION
The house, part of which dates back to 1765, is set in a peaceful location in the village and there are many local attractions easily accessible by car. The village itself offers a bar and a trout farm. The next village along the Canche, Boubers Sur Canche, offers a mini-market, caffe bars, restaurant, post office and a wonderful natural garden centre. The nearby market towns offer restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets as well as the traditional French open-air markets.

The building comprises of the house with a barn and outbuildings attached. At present the accommodation is all on the ground floor of the house. It can sleep 5 people comfortably. There are two bedrooms. In the larger room there is a King sized bed and a 3 ft single bed. The other room has a standard double bed. In addition there is a separate Lounge with comfy sofas and a feature fireplace with a wood burning stove, Kitchen with Dining Area, Bathroom with Bath/shower, toilet and sink. There is a separate toilet off the dining area.

The kitchen has a gas cooker, dishwasher and fridge and is well equipped with utensils, crockery and glassware. There is a washing machine and tuble drier. The house has oil -fired central heating and hot water.

There is a small library of fiction and non-fiction books.

Car Parking
Two cars can be parked off the road in the front courtyard.

The Garden
The garden is enclosed and has been landscaped to offer an open lawn area with enough space for family games. There is a morning sun terrace ideal for breakfast and lunch, an evening sun terrace and pergola for alfresco teatime and evening meals as well as sun bathing. The beds are made up of flowering shrubs, roses, perennials and herbs. There is a selection of garden furniture available, including sun loungers, garden tables, picnic bench, umbrella and a Barbecue. There are a selection of bikes and scooters available.

SO HOW FAR IS IT?
It is about 1.5 hours drive from Calais or Dieppe, 1 hours drive from Boulogne giving you a choice of cross channel operators. As you look at the map of Northern France it is located halfway inland between Le Touquet and Arras.

WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE
You will need to take sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. There is one King, one Standard double and a 3ft single bed.

You will need to take bath towels and tea towels.

TARIFF
I operate a year round flexi-break policy of £60 per night for the house. You can come and go on any day, subject to a minimum 2-night stay, and the tariff reflects this.

Typically 2 nights £120, 5 nights £300, 7 nights £378, 14 nights £714.
A 50% deposit secures your booking.
Balance to be paid 6 weeks prior to departure.
