L'epine au Verdier, Pont Hebert, near St Lo - Bed and Breakfast
Trevor and Sara would like to welcome you into their 200 year old family farmhouse. Ideally situated near St Lo in the Manche region of Normandy for those who are house hunting or just wanting to visit the many wonderful delights of this area.
Pont Hebert
This is our nearest village, offering all the amenities you may require. Bank, Grocery shop, Post Office, and Pharmacy. Situated on the River Vire, you can walk, or cycle along the towpath enjoying the unspoilt countryside.
St Lo (10 mins)
Although St Lo was completely destroyed during the 2nd World War, from the ruins it has developed into a pleasant bustling town. The Haras National was originally founded by Napoleon to provide horses for his army, and today you can visit the stud. On Thursdays during the summer, spectacular displays are performed to visitors. Saturdays are market day, which is well worth the visit, offering local produce. St Lo also has many shops, cafes and a good variety of resturants.
D-Day landing beaches
We are well placed to visit many of these sites, where battles of great importance during the Liberation of France took place. St Mere Eglise, Utah, Omaha, Gold, Sword, Juno and the small fishing village of Arromanches which became the site of the manmade floating dock that was so crucial to the Allied landings. Many museums are along this coastline to visit, but also sadly are the cemeteries to remind us of the human sacrifice.
Bayeux (45 mins)
The ancient town of Bayeux, home to the famous and unique tapestry is a must visit. With lots of other small museums and galleries tucked away within the narrow medieval streets, and plenty of good shops and resturants, not to mention the Cathedral.
Le Mont St Michel
This is the most visited site in France. Built on a small granite island, this dates back to around the year 500. Two centuries later it was dedicated to Archangle Michel and since then has been a site of pilgrimage to millions from around the world.
We can offer a comfortable twin bedded room with en-suite facilities and a double room with shared facilities. Prices are per room on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Home cooked evening meals can be arranged in advance.
