We are an hour and a quarter from Limoges and midway between Gueret and Bourganeuf just off the tourist route
Our recently converted stone barn is designed for wheelchair access. It nestles in the peaceful Creuse countryside surrounded by wildlife. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with adapted en-suite shower room and toilet, open plan living area with original beams and wood burning stove plus sun porch. On the first floor is a second double and a twin bedroom plus shared shower room/wc.
Outside there is a fenced grassed garden area with swing combination, sand pit and safe play area - we can provide a paddling pool, sit and ride toys plus more for garden and indoor use including books, puzzles and board games for all age groups. We also have a fenced off level patio area with plunge pool, gas barbecue and outdoor furniture. We have two dogs - a Labrador and an English Setter - hence the fenced off areas - who are not allowed in the gite or upstairs in our house where there are two more en-suite letting rooms in our attic.

Our Situation
We are situated 16 kilometers south of Gueret, a town with its own market twice a week (Thursday and Saturday ), 4 large supermarkets plus many different shops, railway station and museum. There is a lake on the outskirts offering a safe beach area and water sports, a giant maze and the Chabrieres Wolf Sanctuary and Forest with walks, mountain bike tracks, Arboretum and granite rock formations. 15 kilometers south of us is Bourganeuf, the first town in France to have electricity - there is even a museum about it. The market day is Wednesday.
There are numerous restaurants in both these towns although Gueret is bigger and there is more choice. Our nearest restaurant serving delicious Creusoise dishes is 7 kilometers/10 minutes away, the nearest bars (3) are in Sardent which is a 5 minute drive and there is a lake which can be swum in if you don't mind reeds around your feet. The nearest bakery is there plus church, post office, chemist, supermarket and public phone box.
Within an hour and a half of us is Limoges with its porcelain, airport and architecture, in particular the railway station. There are fun parks nearby, a zoo, aquarium and the infamous Oradour-Sur-Glane plus Lake Vassiviere with its many safe beach areas, assorted watersports, bouncy castles (seasonal), assault course, walks, mountain bike tracks, variety of restaurants and more.
Follow in the footsteps of Monet and visit Fresselines with its artists studios and Crozant with ruined castle and river. Aubusson is famous for its tapestries - see how they are made and old ones repaired.
During the year there are all kinds of fetes celebrating local produce - apples, pumpkins, potatoes, cheese, oysters and mussels for example - in the surrounding villages and most have car boot sales too. The local specialities are on sale at these and should not be missed!
The scenery in this area is superb and wild animals and birds can be seen everywhere.
