THE AREA
Just 30 minutes South East of Bergerac, Le Grand Malbosc is set amidst rolling hills and fertile valleys. It is notably a farming region, famed throughout France for fruit and nut growing – prunes are a speciality - as are the Melons, Asparagus, Tomatoes, Figs . . . . .and so on. Foie Gras, Duck, Pork and Poultry abound in the ‘plat du jour’ cafes as well as in the more serious gourmet restaurants.
A few kms from Le Grand Malbosc are the vineyards of Bergerac, Pecharmant, Montbazillac, Duras, Buzet etc. – a wine buff’s paradise.
Markets are available 7 days a week – all within a short distance of the farmhouse and mostly held in the beautiful medieval bastide towns in the area.
Bergerac (30 minutes drive away), with its quaint streets, beautiful shops and good restaurants is ‘a must’.
ACTIVITIES
For those who wish to engage in more physical pursuits there is a lot on offer – Horseriding, Golf, Tennis, Canoeing (both on The Dordogne and The Lot), Walking, Fishing, visiting Chateaux, Prehistoric Caves, Gardens, Trotting Races, Open Air Concerts, and the atmospheric Evening Markets with their food, wine and music.
