Moulin de Mousque a 12th Century Mill in the Heart of Gascony. Situated on the river Osse, this renovated water mill provides accommodation for up to eight people in two separate buildings. The property is set within five acres of secluded grounds, surrounded by woods and fields with its own island, mill stream, mill pond and swimming pool.
Located in the North Gers it is easily accessible from four airports, train and autoroutes. All main services (shopping, restaurants etc) are available in the local market town, Condom, ten minutes away by car. Larressingle, a medieval fortified village, is a five minute drive. The mill is available all the year round and has central heating.
The Mill - Sleeps 2-4
The mill is stone-built and recently restored. It has one double and one twin bedroom and a shower-room. The open plan living area and kitchen are fitted to a high standard including UK TV and CD player. There is a dishwasher and washing machine.
Either side are two terraces looking to the east and west. The old millstones are still in place downstairs. There, you can look over the mill pond and hear the water running underneath.
The Stable - Sleeps 2-4
A separate self-contained converted stable provides accommodation for four people in two large twin bedrooms.
This unit also contains a large barbeque area and a fully fitted kitchen and bathroom. Between the two buildings is the swimming pool beside the mill stream. There is a bridge onto the island with mature woods and waterfall over two acres.
Activities - With this as a base there are many activities within easy reach:
Eating – the local area is renowned for rich variety of food; foie-gras and all types of duck speciality dishes.
Wine – good country wines are everywhere and this is the centre for Armagnac.
Walking – the rolling countryside provides great variety, and there are many old bastide villages to explore. Near at hand are Larressingle, Fourcès and Montréal.
Sports – golf, tennis, horse-riding, pelote and fishing are all within easy reach.
Culture – chateaux, antique fairs, jazz and classical music are some of the possibilities. Local communal fêtes during summer months.
Shopping – all main services are less than ten minutes by car. Each day of the week there are markets at one of the nearby towns.
Bordeaux and the Pyrenees are all about two hours easy drive.
