Our gites are situated on the Rue du Petit Fort, a truly impressive example of conservation and preservation.
This cobbled street descends steeply, dropping some 75 metres in its 750 metre length, from the old town to the River Rance & old port.
The walk up and down is invigorating, scenic and very interesting and even more enjoyable when you envisage a gourmet meal waiting to be ordered at one of the many picturesque cafes or restaurants at the port of Dinan.
Dinan is a City of Art & History, situated near St. Malo, Dinard, Dol de Bretagne, Mont. St Michel, Rennes and many more interesting towns and villages. Dinan was founded at the turn of the 11th Century, and from the 13th Century onwards Dinan became an important stronghold of the Duchy of Brittany, responsible for the wonderful historical city we know today.
Dinan has an abundance of churches, priories, chapels and convents with exceptional architecture and furnishings, as well as a variety of spectacular timber buildings dating from the end of the Middle Ages and the Chateau.

Things to Do
We always are available to provide ideas for things to do during your stay in the Cotes D'Armor . We have produced a folder of information for each gite listing places to go and what to see, whatever the weather. For each attraction we have given pricing information and opening times, which will hopefully guide you to the best attractions. You can also look through the recommendations from the other guests, as well as adding your own. Below are some of the activities that may be available during your stay.
MARKETS - There are many historic towns all of which have a market at least once a week - these traditional French markets sell local vegetables, fish, meat, cheeses, clothes and bric-a-brac, some even sell live animals.
The market in Dinan is held Thursday mornings. "Vide Greniers" are like large car boot sales and often occur at weekends.
BEACHES - There are too many to list - from secluded sandy bays where you may not see a soul, to cosmopolitan towns with restaurants, ice creams, sandwiches and activities along the prom, to sporting beaches with surfing, sailing, sand yachting and paragliding.
