Situated in the heart of the lively 13thc village of Capestang (on the Canal du Midi) the restaurants, shops, cafes and twice weekly market all just a few steps away. This large and spacious old French house with its 13thc tower (with resident owl) has just been refurbished to a very high standard.

The Maison de Maitre - Sleeps 12 plus baby
The Maison de Maitre with its 6 bedrooms, spans three floors. The ground floor has a large living room with a fireplace, a spacious dining room and a newly fitted kitchen and a spacious bathroom.
The first floor is home to two of the bedrooms, the most spectacular being the “Cardinal’s Suite”, so named for reputedly being used by the local cardinal when he came to visit the local church. It has an adjoining bathroom and dressing room. Across the hall is the second largest bedroom, with a large bathroom and a stunning view of the garden and church.
The top floor has two more en-suite bedrooms and a further two bedrooms which share a large shower room. The house has central and under-floor heating and instant hot water.
The properties can be rented separately with shared use of the pool, or together giving you a private pool area.

Both the Maison de Maitre and the Vigneron open on to a courtyard, which is a morning suntrap where you can enjoy your coffee with views of the tower, and the spectacular 13th century Church in the square.
The rear garden includes a secluded swimming pool with a dining area with room for 10 – 15 people. There is a barbeque area with a sink, drink fridge, an outside shower and toilet and a hidden laundry drying section.? There is also additional parking via a separate entrance. At night, the church is lit and provides a stunning backdrop to the garden.
The area
Capestang is a small, friendly town in Herault / Landuedoc-Roussillion. There are three airports within an hour of the village – Montpellier, Carcasonne and Perpignan. There are sandy beaches just 20 minutes drive away, with excellent fish restaurants, and the fish market of Sete.
Capestang is on the Canal du Midi, and is surrounded by vineyards and woods, which makes it a wonderful area for walking, cycling or riding. The village has a market twice weekly, and there are many other markets in the area for both fresh produce and regional goods.
For history buffs, the village itself dates back to the 13th century. It is also close to the ancient walled city of Carcasonne and the Roman town of Narbonne, and the city of Perpignon. If you want a complete change of culture, Spain is just 1 ½ hours drive away.

This house has been completely refurbished to a high standard with freestanding roll top bath in 2 of the new bathrooms. We can arrange for a chef to cook for you as well as a airport collection and babysitting.

The coast is 20 mins away with sandy beaches, some excellent fish restaurants and the fish market of Sete.
For history there is the ancient walled city of Carcasonne, the roman town of Narbonne, and the city of Perpignan. Spain is only an 1 1/2 drive away and has a very different style to France. Or just sit by the pool with a book.
