We are located in the Creuse region of Limousin, just 2 kilometres from the charming village of St Dizier-Leyrenne. The village features a range of small shops, bar/café and pretty lake with sandy beaches and perimeter walk.

Pommerol is an ideal place to relax, unwind and get away from the everyday pressures, demands and stresses of daily life. It comprises four individual and charming, newly renovated gites within two contrasting Limousin barns dating back over 200 years.
Each gite has been sympathetically refurbished, retaining original features whilst incorporating modern conveniences to provide an attractive, comfortable and enchanting holiday retreat. The surrounding landscape remains an exceptionally picturesque environment in an area of outstanding natural beauty. An abundance of birds, wildlife, trees and plants inhabit the peaceful countryside. In Pommerol, tranquility is assured.
All you need do is come and explore on foot, bicycle or horseback. There is always a warm welcome for you at Pommerol.
Pailler - Sleeps up to 5
Pailler is our largest accommodation and can sleep 4/5 people. Both double bedrooms have their own en suite shower rooms complete with WC and wash hand basin.
The spacious lounge with its high ceiling reveals all the original beams and trusses, whilst the exposed stone behind the wood burning stove is very imposing.
There is a large fully fitted kitchen including electric oven and hob plus an integral fridge. This area also incorporates a large traditional French dining table that comfortably seats six.
The paved terrace in front of the double doors overlooks the swimming pool where you can relax and enjoy a glass or two of Bordeaux. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided.?
Rocaille - Sleeps 4
Rocaille is a two-bedroom gite that can sleep 4 people very comfortably. Entering the double doors to the ground floor you will find a very spacious open plan lounge, featuring the original cow byres that have been sympathetically restored, leading to a fully fitted kitchen.
It has one double bedroom and a second twin room both on the first floor (the twin room can sleep more by arrangement). The bathroom is situated between the bedrooms and incorporates a bath with overhead shower, wash hand basin and toilet.
At the front of the gite you will find a small terraced area facing the swimming pool. To the rear there is a gravelled terrace with views over open countryside. Garden furniture and BBQ are provided and can be set up in either area..
Tilleul - Sleeps 4
The twin and double bedrooms incorporate many of the original features. A spacious bathroom with bath and overhead shower, toilet and wash hand basin is located between the two bedrooms.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped and leads to a lounge/diner that has access to the swimming pool via French doors. As this gite is all on one level it provides the ideal accommodation for couples and those who are less mobile.
At the front of the gite there is a small area for relaxing and to the side and rear is a gravelled terrace overlooking the beautiful Limousin countryside. Garden furniture and BBQ provided.
Fenil - Sleeps 4
This light and airy first floor gite provides accommodation for 4 people in double and twin rooms separated by a large bathroom containing bath and overhead shower, toilet and wash hand basin.
The lounge/diner overlooks the swimming pool at the front whilst the fully equipped kitchen, including a full size gas cooker and integral fridge, has extensive views over the surrounding fields.
The gite also has access to a small front terrace plus rear gravelled terrace that is an ideal place to relax and take in the stunning sunset at the end of a long hot summer's day. Garden furniture and BBQ are provided.
Pommerol is an excellent base for exploring the local area with its wealth of activities, history and culture.
It is also an ideal location for simply relaxing, soaking up the sun or taking an occasional dip in the pool. Alternatively, our games room has a pool table, darts, table football and table tennis plus a selection of boxed games. A small library of books suitable for all ages is also available.
Bird Watching – The large areas of woodland, non-intensive use of agricultural land and unpolluted air provide a thriving habitat for a diverse and fascinating array of bird life. The area is a must for the keen amateur or indeed anyone with even a passing interest in ornithology and distinctive species are likely to be observed on any day out during your stay in the Creuse.
Cycling – The quiet countryside roads make cycling enjoyable, safe and stress free. Additionally, for the more adventurous there are numerous off road signed cycle routes, for mountain bikes with four difficulty levels.
Fishing – The Creuse is an anglers paradise with 3,800 kilometres of streams and rivers plus 3,000 hectares of lakes. It has some of the finest fish in Europe – trout, carp, pike, salmon, bream, dace, chub, gudgeon, barbell, perch, black-bass to name a few.
The smaller rivers are perfect for those starting out and ideal for children. The larger rivers are places for the more experienced and professional minded. A special holiday permit allows you to fish in all categories of lake and river for a 15-day period.
Golf – Gentle swathes of green valleys, woods, lakes and open pastureland provide a natural and beautiful setting for golf courses. There are 4 attractive and challenging 18 hole courses within an hour's drive of Pommerol.
History – The region is full of historical interest from the route of Richard the Lionheart, pilgrim roads to St Jacques de Compostela, Romanesque abbeys and churches to fascinating châteaux.
The charred remains of Oradour-sur-Glane have been preserved as a monument of man’s inhumanity to man, since being razed to the ground by Nazi SS troops on 10th June 1944. There are also a number of museums dedicated to the French resistance fighters.
Walking – There are numerous themed walking circuits besides the more challenging national network of hiking routes (Grande Randonée) which criss-cross the Limousin.
Most tourist offices can supply local maps showing rambling routes. Serious hikers can obtain the detailed Tops-guides from Maisons de la Presse and bookshops.
Water Sports – The nearby Lake Vassiviere, which covers 4 square miles, has 6 beaches providing activities for children, supervised bathing and boat trips. The more energetic can indulge in sailing, windsurfing, motor boating, water-skiing and pedalos. The many surrounding rivers offer excellent facilities for canoeing or kayaking.
The Arts – The Crozant School of Painting, which previously included Claude Monet who painted over 20 canvases in the area, continues to attract landscape painters, inspired by the beautiful gorges along the Creuse river. Georges Sand, who lived in nearby Boussac, set many of her novels amongst this gorgeous scenery.
The region is also world-renowned for the porcelain and enamels of Limoges, the famous tapestries of Aubusson and the archaeological sites in the legendary Forest of Chabrières.
