Our estate dates from the 100 Years War, situated in an area rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Our cottages are ideal for couples, families or if rented together, larger groups. All baby and toddler equipment provided.
Whether you prefer wine-tasting, exploring the countryside on horseback, shopping for local produce and antiques in village markets or simply relaxing by the pool, Domaine de la Dolce offers the perfect base from which to enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of France.
Each cottage is single-level (great for children) with beautiful tile floors, satellite TV and DVD/CD players. All have large beds with comfortable, sprung mattresses and heating for out-of-season stays
The cottages stand in a row (staggered for privacy) on a gently sloping meadow, surrounded by tranquil woodland. They are well-insulated, with vaulted ceilings, and their spacious independent terraces are hedged at the sides but open onto the meadow.
Bed linen, bath and pool towels and hair dryers are included, and for babies we are happy to provide toys, books, high chairs, cots, changing mats, baby baths, booster seats, steps for sinks, etc., all free of charge
La Luciole - Sleeps up to 4
Ideal for couples alone or with children, La Luciole is a two-bedroom cottage with a kitchen/living area and a large bathroom. It has two sets of French doors leading to the large south-facing private terrace equipped with wooden patio furniture and a barbecue.
The spacious master bedroom contains a new, large bed (super-king, but we can also make it as twin beds) and its antique wardrobe and chest of drawers provide ample storage space. The second bedroom contains sturdy, adult-sized bunk beds, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The comfortable bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower.
The kitchen is well-equipped and has a dining table, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob and separate oven. The sitting area has satellite TV and a DVD/CD player.
La Girolle - Sleeps 4-6
La Girolle is a beautiful and well-equipped three-bedroom, three-bathroom cottage.
The spacious master bedroom contains a new, large bed (super-king, but we can also make it as twin beds) and is equipped with an antique wardrobe and a chest of drawers for ample storage. It has a vaulted ceiling, en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower, and French doors leading onto its own south-facing terrace.
La Girolle's second bedroom contains sturdy, adilt-sized bunk beds, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. Its bathroom also has a separate bath and shower. The third bedroom/bathroom suite with its separate entrance is as big and luxurious as the master bedroom. It is ideal for teenagers, friends or grandparents as it provided additional privacy becasue it has its own entrance.
The spaciouslkitchen/dining room is equipped to a high standard and has a large dining table with six chairs. The comfortable living room is beautifully furnished and has satellite TV and a DVD/CD player.
La Girolle has a large south-facing private terrrace with wooden patio furniture, umbrella and a barbecue as well as its own lawn area to the side of the cottage.
La Sauterelle - Sleeps up to 8
Our largest cottage, La Sauterelle has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen/dining room.
Each of the two master bedrooms contain a new, large bed (super-king, but we can also make it as twin beds) and has an antique wardrobe and chest of drawers for ample storage. Each has a vaulted ceiling and French doors leading onto its own terrace.
The third and fourth bedrooms each have sturdy, adult-sized bunk beds, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The layout is such that each master bedroom shares a bathroom (with separate bath and shower) with one of the bunk bed rooms, making the cottage ideal for two couples each with children.
The kitchen/dining room is well-equipped with a dining table, a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave and hob.
A separate living room provides ample seating space and is equipped with satellite TV and a DVD/CD player.
The kitchen and living/dining room each has its own set of French doors onto the large fully-equipped south-facing terrace.
La Sauterelle is a true "home away from home".
The Pool - The Mosaic-tiled swimming pool (11.5 x 5.5m) is salt-filtered to avoid the use of chlorine and is fenced to protect our younger guests. The terrace area is paved in local stone, and comfortable sun loungers, parasols and pool towels are provided. The pool is shared by the three cottages, with the occasional visit from our five-year-old son Sebastian
The Games Cottage - Our spacious games cottage includes table football, table tennis, board games, outdoor games, lots and lots of toys for babies and young children and a bookcase with books for all ages.
The Playground - Our enchanting playground, set in a shady forest clearning, includes a climbing tower, slide, toddler swings and sand pit with toys. Our fields and woodlands offer no lack of space for football, badminton, or whatever adventures your children might dream up.
The Grounds - The Domaine includes seven acres of fields and woodlands perfect for quiet walks, picnics, gathering chestnuts, or just dozing under a tree.
Babysitting - In summer our qualified English nanny is available for babysitting in her free time - no excuses not to indulge in a quiet evening out.
Laundry - A laundry room is provided with washing machines, a dryer, iron and ironing board, and laundry lines nearby. Don't forget that all bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are included
Sports - Canoeing, bike rental, horseback riding, fishing, tennis, golf, and country walks are all nearby.
Breakfast - Start the morning with croissants and French bread from Au Vieux Four, the traditional wood-oven bakery in Montcabrier, without having to leave your cottage. Just order them with us the day before, and we will bring them right to your door at no extra cost.
The Owners - Greg, Sophia and Sebastian Mose live in the farmhouse across the field. We are happy to help with booking restaurants, making travel plans or anything else you might need.
Domaine de la Dolce is located in the Lot, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of Southwest France. It is a region famous for its local produce - Cahors wine, Rocamadour cheese, Cep mushrooms, truffles, and foie gras - as well as castles, prehistoric cave paintings and idyllic villages.
Montcabrier - We are less than 3km from the charming medieval village of Montcabrier with its traditional wood-oven bakery and 14th century church. Within 15 minutes drive are Puy l'Eveque, Cahors wine country, the magnificent Chateau de Bonaguil, tennis, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, and endless country walks. An 18-hole golf course is only a half hour's drive away.
Cahors - Capital of the Lot and center of the Cahors wine region, this is a bustling town with a lively Saturday market and many good restaurants. The Valentre Bridge is a stunning feat of medieval architecture.
Monpazier - A half hour away, this stunning town is the most perfectly preserved medieval bastide in South West France. Its Cep market is not to be missed.
Sarlat - Perhaps the most visited town in the Dordogne, Sarlat is well worth a day spent wandering through its labyrinthine streets.
The Haut Agenais - Ideal motoring country, the Haut Agenais, with its fields of sunflowers, antique markets and hilltop towns, is reminiscent of Tuscany - without the crowds.
The Bouriane - Unspoiled France at its best, The Bouriane is a quiet stretch of rolling farmland and tiny villages. For lunch, let us book you a table at "La Recreation" in Les Arques or "Romulus" in Les Junies.
