Costa del Azahar
Costa del Azahar and the community of Valencia is a unique part of Spain.? The picturesque backdrop of some of the most productive citrus, olive and almond orchards in Europe are afforded by the warm climate and fertile soil.
The town of Alcossebre lies on the coast between Barcelona and Valencia with Madrid through the mountains to the west, the Balearics to the east and the Columbrettes nature reserve lying offshore. The town is surrounded by striking mediterranean countryside and is bordered by the Sierra d'Irta national park nature reserve. Hoopoes, swallowtail butterflies, and reptiles are among the wildlife to be found amongst the wild rosemary, cacti and palm trees.
The town is free from the over exploitation of package tourism and has long been popular with Spanish tourists who come to the area for its long sandy beaches. There are a multitude of places to eat serving Spanish food from tapas bars to restaurants selling locally caught fish, as well as international foods.
The town? neighbours areas of historical interest such as Peñiscola with its old town and castle, the second most visited monument in Spain. Many hill tops are capped with castles such as Sta. Magdalena de Pulpis and many towns have impressive grand churches such as those at Vinarós and Álcala de Xivert. The interior, just a few miles inland is littered with fascinating sites of historical interest such as the 7000 year old cave paintings at San Mateo.
With the choice of low cost routes and budget airlines available throughout the UK, the area is easily accessible from Barcelona, Reus or Valencia.
Where are we ?
Alcossebre is located in the Costa del Azahar on Spain's Mediterranean coast. It is approximately 2 hours drive from Barcelona, or an hour from Valencia or Reus (Tarragona) airports. It is also an hours drive to Port Aventura theme park which is situated in Reus.
Travel via train to Vinarós or Torreblanca is possible and taxi pickups from airport or rail stations can be arranged.
Prices
Prices range from £185 (low season) to £375 (high season) per week for the apartment, which accommodates 2 to 7.
